SPECS, TECHS and other things that end in echs.

When we first gave this kiting thing a go, we thought it was just a nice sideline for times of no swell, rock too hot, crap snow and empty rivers but after playing with these beasts, they’re a stand alone game in their own right for sure…you won’t believe the fun.

Thus annoyingly, there’s no going back and more “must-have” stuff to buy…terrific.

We thought “Why don’t we make our own kites that are tough as hell and the world’s most affordable dirt bag intro models for land and snow?”

There was no good reason not to. So we did.

Then we had another thought. “Why don’t we stock 2 of the world’s best, so when the kiting bug bites, there is a next step for the crew to take”.

Again, no good reason not to. So we did.

Enough “So we did” s.

Here’s the skinny on the 3 brands we offer.

We got ‘em and you’ll want ‘em

Winter 2006 in Oz
Mt Hotham practice area.

Brand: Feed The Rat

(Car analogy: Hummer 4x4. Plus 50 cal… Plus armour)

These are aimed at getting you through your first couple of seasons for not a lot of cash; really tough, the smallest will fit in your side pocket, weighs almost nothing etc.

For: Snowkiting/Landboarding: Beginner and Intermediate use

Basically a bullet-proof and stable kite designed to take the punishing you WILL dish out to it in your first season on land or snow.

What you need is:

  • a safe, reassuring kite
  • a stable kite
  • a good de-power or effective safety release
  • top performance on demand and not before (you’d kill yourself)
  • quick to set up and quick to pack down whatever the conditions

The FTR kites offer all this and more.

More practice at Mt Hotham.

More? you ask…it’s not possible…well it is ...

Each kite comes with Instructional Booklet. (Less time looking like a drunk being dragged around by a rag)

Comes in its own stuff sack. (Wow! Core! A stuff sack…it’s a deal.)

And high quality low-stretch lines (pretty important – this is a good thing)
