There once was a lad with an itch …..

Pictured below not wearing a halo, simply a circle, is a friend of FTR’s named Euan Friday. His itch was not only brought about by too many nights in a tent as a lad in the bush but also a yearning to travel.

So after a good night’s sleep and an even better scratch, he got out of the sleeping bag, left Oz in 1994 and set off for his first trip overseas for what he thought would be about six months.

Three and half years later, having worked in most of the countries of Central Europe, went snowboarding, learnt a new language, married his wife in Bratislava, Euan returned to Australia a committed traveller.

Then he sat down, poured himself a bourbon and coke, had a good think and decided that:

“I should become the Managing Director of a global travel company which boasts a worldwide network of more than 450 branches, with more than 100 in Australia and New Zealand and operating in more than 75 countries across 15 time zones, which employs in excess of 3000 people speaking over 60 languages, sending more than 6 million travellers packing and with a turnover exceeding USD$1.1 billion worldwide and caters for the needs of people just like me!!”.

EF and his cronies aged 15 at an outdoors school they lived at for a year as kids. Many are now captains of industry, the rest are on day release monitored via electronic tracking anklets.

You know where this is going ……

And within 5 years, guess what?     He was. He did. He is.

This is where we come in. In his CV it states: “He has a fervour for adventure sports. Not one for pretence, Euan is a highly personable and approachable MD”.

This too is true but at this point we will leave his itching and finer points and answer the question that is surely in your mind which is:

“What’s in it for freakin’ me?”

And the answer quite simply is that STA Travel offers real service and travel consultants who actually give a shit about you, your trip and your budget.

A grainy pic of a youthful 21 year old EF, king of all he surveys. Sort of …

STA travel is full service travel retailer, so they’ve got the lot in terms of what they can handle on your behalf, have enormous buying power with the world’s best airlines, land transport and accommodation suppliers.

Plus they have exclusive access to discounted student and youth fares and can provide students and young travellers with discounts as high as 40% off the published airfares.

They hold International Air Travel Association (IATA) accreditation and are the sole Australian member of the Student Air Travel Association (SATA), are also the sole issuing authority for the International Student and Teacher Identity Cards.

Plus they are a financial member of the Travel Compensation Fund and satisfy all licensing requirements of state and territory governments in Australia.

Have a look at their site to get an idea of what they offer here

Or we’ve got an FTR dedicated number in Oz if you have travel plans you’d like to discuss 1300 859 485 and say hi to Euan when he answers.

(Are you kidding, he runs the show, he doesn’t work the switchboard).
