Tree Trunk Gorge, the Mordor Drop.

“This is the scariest gorge in New Zealand, we did it at the end of summer in 2006 and reckon it was the second descent.

Our party were the number three and four paddlers to run it successfully but in the past there have been five unlucky people who have ended up in the river without a boat and sadly there are now five crosses next to the bridge.

The first descent was in 2005 and the river is next to Mordor from the film Lord of the Rings and it truly is a dark, deep and totally unfriendly looking place.
