Hey Guys!

Well the school year has ended and I'm excited to get some time off and paddle with a smaller group! At school it seems we always bring the line to all the play spots.

Being busy with finishing up the year and finals we didn't get to paddle much near the end but when we did it was great. We had a two good sessions at Z Dam in Richmond, VA. For those that haven't heard about Z Dam it’s a low head dam on the James River with a fish notch that's the PERFECT hole.

Being very eager to get in our boats after finals we all played ourselves to death both days. This hole is good for anything from cartwheels and split wheels to loops and McNastys and phonics monkeys...really pretty much everything was good to go.

The spot’s really just great for throwing some huge loops one after another and good preparation for the Colorado play holes. After getting somewhat of a playboating fix, we went to Washington DC area to see the capital of the US and run some drops at Great Falls on the Potomac River. Great Falls is pretty intimidating as there are tons of channels and slots everywhere and some are definitely places a kayak doesn't want to go.

The level was good for the "middle lines" to be in which includes the drops Grace Under Pressure, about a 15 foot boof and The Fingers, which is a cool delayed boof about the same height just a lot narrower.

A good balance of running some gnar and freestyle to end the school year. It was great to go to both of those spots since they're such popular spots and both really great. It was fun to finally paddle them myself rather than just watch them on videos.

All in all I couldn't have asked for a better way to end the year and soon I'll be heading out west to Colorado for some cold water playboating and hopefully a few creeks thrown in too.  Sam
