Hey guys,

Sorry it's been so long since I've been in touch. I haven't been boating much lately, I hurt my shoulder awhile back and I've just been taking it easy lately.

Before that I spent some time up on the Ottawa in Canada. The Ottawa is filled with play waves and in the summer the water is nice and warm.

For most of our time there the Garberator wasn't really happening, the water was just too low. However, at McCoy's rapid there is a wide variety of play features to make our stay in Canada super enjoyable. The main wave is Corner Wave. Corner Wave is a super class and steep wave, perfect for blunts, clean spins and helix’s.

It’s really just a fun spot to carve around on because it’s so fast. It’s super tiring though. After you flush through you have to sprint hard to make the eddy without flushing down the next drop.

At the next drop is the big hole, Leftside. Leftside is a pretty dang big hole but as it turns out, it isn't all that trashy. It’s perfect for wingover entry moves and both wave and hole moves.

The best way to leave the session is to have a good last ride up on corner wave, the float down right into Leftside and throw some cartwheels and McNasty's on your way out.

If playing isn't your thing then you can run the rapid over and over. It’s a big water rapid with a pretty meaty hole up top. Phil's hole has a really bad right side to it but isn't too bad on the left.

It has a great wave for Kickflips and Macho Moves right above it for those brave enough to try before having to punch Phil's.

Back at the rapid side house there is a ramp to go off of on your way to the rapid, and it was a great way to begin and end each session.

Any move goes off the ramp. Airscrews and Pan-Am's being the moves of choice, put simply, Canada has everything you could ever want.

I'm off to China in a few weeks. I'm getting pretty excited about that. Hope all is well, Sam.                  All Photos (c) Sam Fulbright
