Tanya Faux – Expedition Leader - 30

Tanya is Australia’s own Whitewater World Kayaking Champion; she is the inspiration and driver of this expedition.

Having first put a paddle in her hand at the age of 22 and now joining the 30 Club, she has dedicated the last 8 years to making the rivers her home.

In 2007, Tanya, also know as T-Bird, completed a successful 7 day first decent of the King Edward River in remote far north western Australia, became the 2006 World Cup Freestyle Kayaking Champion, gained the Silver Medal at the 2007 World Freestyle Kayaking Championships and is the 3 times Reno River Festival Champion.

She is dedicated to the preservation of the Australian river system and water conservation: “The river has become my home, my teacher, my delight, my inspiration, my friend”.

Anthony Yap - The Youth Vote – 24

“I'm a freestyle boater at heart and so the last few years for me have been spent touring high volume rivers, searching for bigger and better river waves to surf.

I freestyle purely to have a good time and to be able to express myself through my own style. It doesn't matter how stressful a day may have been, as soon as I'm in my boat, I couldn't care less anymore.

When it comes to expeditioning and a trip like this, it's all about the discovery. To be immersed in different cultures, environments and to then have the opportunity to go further into places people have never been and seen before, is an experience like no other.

This trip for me is going to be the best of all worlds. An expedition of first descents, unexplored land, and high volume big water!”
