Last weekend we decided that some saltwater croc defence preparation was needed and due to the expertly re-created field conditions, I feel far more confident to deal with any possible croc situation that may arise!
The lower sections of the Moran and Mitchell rivers pose an extremely high probability of encountering a saltwater crocodiles which can be expected to be 14ft in length or longer.
Added to which, it will also be breeding season and the males will be more aggressive.

In contrast to alligators that are relatively benign, the saltwater variety of croc is absolutely not and the expedition’s self protection skills will have to be as honed as their paddling ones.
