Expedition 360

www.expedition360.com is Jason Lewis’s site where he is recording his monumental journey to be the first person to circumnavigate the globe by human power.

He finshed the trip with appropriate global fanfare, just an extrordinary achievement and well worth checking his site.

CUMEC Magazine

Antz Longman has taken the next step in his publishing career by launching CUMEC Magazine, an independent White water Kayaking Magazine being produced especially for the New Zealand & Australian White Water markets. Our aim is to provide kayakers with a magazine that showcases news & information about kayaking in our country & overseas.

The full story is in the Partners area if you want to buy a copy or send him some copy. He’d love you if you did either, preferably both.

CUMEC cover, just the start of things to come.

Arctic Paddling ..

Lachie Harvey and Kim Petherick have their place in the sun at www.southozadventurers.com Here’s a note from them, so there’s a snapshot of their huge sea-paddling trip in the Exped section.

“Well here we go again........In the beginning of July, Heidi, Kevin, Hollie, Joel and myself spent 7 weeks on bikes cycling in Southwest China, through the Yunnan and Sichuan Provinces. From Kunming to Dali and finishing in Chengdu, we cycle through long valleys and over high passes to 4487m.

Quite the challenge for a Sea Kayaker!!!!! We will be posting photos and details of this trip as we go. Check out the page on China, Kim”.

Shaun Kratzer

It was with heavy hearts we all heard today the death of Shaun K, aka Shaggy.

He was skiing in the Himalayas when he got avalanched by something very big and not survivable. He'll be deeply missed by many and his enthusiasm, ideas and practical help were pretty bloody limitless. Trained as a mechanical engineer, he was a font of useful ideas and delivery.

Not just talking shit about what "you should do", Shaggy got in there and did it.

Within a day of hearing that the bouldering wall was being made, he got stuck in with discussions on the load on walls and welding and was there to all hours.

If a clutch on a vehicle had shat itself, he had the whole thing in pieces and was up to his shoulders in grease.

"Ever done this before?". "Never, how hard can it be?".

You were a good man Kratzer. You will be missed.

Here he is just before Christmas 2006.

"Care for a drink Shaun?". "No. Well maybe just the one"......

For Shaggy's images, have at a look at his skills at:
