Great that you've made it to the home of FEED THE RAT.
Welcome, have a look around. We're a community of skiers, climbers, paddlers, base-jumpers, mountain-bikers, cave-divers, surfers, snowboarders and adventurers from most of the other arenas.
Have a look just below under the Latest Update section and also at the end of the last Happenings page; we often post a snapshot there too.
LATEST UPDATE: 16 October
* Below is info on Dice Inaoka’s foray into speed flying but to step it up a notch, have a look at this link for what François Bon’s world is about. The bottom of the intro page of the H page has some more too.
* An overview of the Life By Water Laos Expedition is here. Lots of big new water found, hornets stood on but no broken bones. Not like in the planning stage back in Oz where Exped-Fuehrer Carracher managed to snap his leg like a pretzel jumping off a small platform. The uncharitable would argue that was further proof that paddlers should avoid being on two legs where possible.
* Speed flying and gettin’ it on in the nude; Dice’s report from NZ and from the last few months paragliding is here and a shot below.
* Sean Boz is just back from paddling in Laos and gives a wrap on the multisport body armour we’ve got. A pretty good wrap of the kit really and some nice shots of MTB/Nano-technology doctorate student Chris Feigl modelling the gear in his back yard. Click here to see Chris’s hot water system, beach chair and a pile of Frankie the dog’s poop if you look carefully.
* 3 guys, 3 bikes, 5 months, 25,000 km's and no, Ewan Mc Gregor won’t be there or here
* Need a kayak cameraman who speaks Russki, can handle a spreadsheet and enjoys small animals? If so, there’s a human one stop shop here …….
* The Surfers Mind was written by Richard Bennett, a sport psychologist to many of the world's top pro surfers, action sports athletes and summer and winter Olympians. Have a look here for what we reckon is a useful tool in terms of big mission preparation if you’ve got a significant one fermenting in the backblocks of your mind.
* “This is a fairly serious niche, this distance longboarding caper, but it is all about rejecting traditional and limiting ideas and pursuing past impossibilities”.
So writes Rob Thompson who has just completed the first ever 20,000km human powered odyssey around the world by bicycle and skateboard. To call distance longboarding a niche is a wonderful understatement; see more of Rob’s massive undertaking here
* See what Ben, Dan and Stew have been up to both at home in Tasmania and also on the world stage. Click here to go there.
* Honza Lasko entered the Teva Extreme Games in Val Sessia in Italy and just for a laugh ..... he won it. More on it here and a shot below too - Francoise Bon
 - Dice and web cam
 - Rob Thompson on the road
Quote of the week:
“I’ve been climbing for over 25 years. During that time at least once a year, someone, a non climber has inevitably come and asked why I climbed.
I probably gave 25 reasons from “It’s great adventure” to “I’m no good at ball sports”, to “I’ve got nothing else to do”.
Truth is, I’ve never been quite sure and never cared to dwell on it. All I cared about was when”. Duane Raleigh.
